In de 7e eeuw al werd paardenbloemkruid gebruikt in China. Pas vanaf de 15e eeuw wordt het gebruik van paardenbloemkruid ook in de Europese geschiedenisboeken beschreven. Het wordt sinds die tijd zowel gebruikt als groente (ook wel molsla genoemd) en als traditioneel kruid.
Welke stoffen zitten er in?
In het paardenbloemkruid zitten vele fytonutriënten. Ook bevat het de vitaminen B1, B6 en K. Voorts bevat het kruid de mineralen ijzer, calcium en koper.
